Youth Ministries
Youth Ministries

We welcome the exciting and challenging opportunities of working with youth. Young people are usually so creative in their thinking and in their questions that almost anything goes. Our youth staff and leaders are continually being pushed to think and work "outside the box" as they deal with young people from our congregation and community.

Our programs are designed to engage young people in positive relationships and encouraging dialogue as they build strong foundations for life.

Staff and Leadership
Leadership in our Youth Ministries is provided by several groups of individuals including adult-parent volunteers, a program planning group of adults and youth, youth leaders and leadership interns, and our Student Assistant.

Bert Douglas, Student Assistant
Bert has been a Student Assistant at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Streetsville for the past four years. He has completed his undergraduate studies at Tyndale College and University with a B.A. degree majoring in Religious studies. Bert is studying theology at Knox College in Toronto in preparation for full-time ministry in the Presbyterian Church. He and his wife Tanya have three nuclear powered children and call Streetsville home.

A wise builder begins with the end in mind. The goal of St. Andrew's youth programs is to nurture young people in their spiritual maturity. Thus our programs rest on these four pillars:

1. Centered on a relationship with Jesus
2. Motivated by a sense of call
3. Guided by mature discerning wisdom and
4. Encouraged and bolstered by a sense of community

Our programs:

Friday Night
6-9:45pm Youth DROP IN for ALL ages.

Sunday Ministry
In conjunction with our Sunday Service of Worship, we offer an age-graded program for children and youth that includes a Senior Department & Youth. Our Youth department includes Jr. High and High School youth who meet with their Leaders. Each program is independently developed by the teacher-leaders of each class.

Throughout the year the youth are encouraged to take part in several memorable activities. Events include retreats, camping trips, sleepovers, dances and several other history making events.

Parenting Conferences
A key role of youth ministries involves supporting families. In order to facilitate this, St. Andrew's holds parenting conferences designed to support and encourage parents.
